As South Africa continues to observe Youth Month, the South African Police Service (SAPS) is celebrating a new generation of young officers who are driving ethical policing, professionalism and public service across the country through its national campaign: “SAPS Youth – Leading the Reset Agenda”.
SAPS introduces the nation to Constable Nthabeleng Caroline Serathi, a vibrant 30-year-old officer with an unwavering commitment to community upliftment and youth empowerment.
Serving in the Sasolburg Social Crime Prevention Unit, Constable Serathi wears many hats: Partnership Coordinator, Sector Commander, Campus Safety Officer, and School Safety Officer – her work is not just a profession it is a calling.
Appointed to the SAPS in February 2017, she has spent the last nine years building bridges between the police and the community, especially the youth. Backed by a bachelor’s degree in forensic science and technology and currently pursuing an Honours degree in the same field, she combines academic excellence with grassroots impact.

In her role as Campus Safety Officer and School Safety Officer for Sectors 1 and 2, she is entrusted with the safety of students, learners and educators across nine schools and Flavious Mareka FET College.
Her work includes conducting safety campaigns, educational outreach, and fostering safe, nurturing environments for children, especially those living with disabilities.
One of Constable Serathi’s recent initiatives was a heartfelt awareness campaign at Kamohelo Disability Centre. Teaming up with other stakeholders she organized the delivery of winter goodies and inspiring motivational talks, empowering children with the knowledge of how to report crimes and seek help when needed.
A firm believer in serving with love, resilience, and compassion, she emphasises the importance of perseverance to her fellow young officers.
Constable Nthabeleng Serathi embodies the true spirit of public service, courageous, compassionate, and committed to a safer, brighter future for the youth of South Africa.
