The Odendaalsrus Regional Court has handed down an eight-year imprisonment term to Tshidiso Edison Tatire (40) for murder.
The sentencing emanates from an incident that occurred on Wednesday, 8 January 2025, at about 10:50. The court heard how, on the day of the incident, the two brothers were fighting at their home in K10, Kutlwanong Location. The accused then fatally stabbed his older brother in the chest with a knife before fleeing the scene.
The victim, who was aged 40 at the time, was found lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor with a stab wound to the chest. Tlhoriso Godfrey Tatire was declared deceased at the scene.
The accused was traced on the same day and arrested for murder.
The matter was assigned to Sergeant Seleke Mahloko of the Odendaalsrus Detectives, for further investigation. Through his thorough and precise investigation, alongside prosecutor Montsho of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the accused was remanded in custody until the commencement of his trial.
On 18 August 2026, Magistrate Gusha found the accused, Tshidiso Edison Tatire, guilty of murder and sentenced him to eight years’ imprisonment.
