Sediba-Thuto and Sasolburg HTS Shines for Fezile Dabi

Both Sediba-Thuto Secondary School from Phiritona Heilbron and Sasolburg HTS have made it into the top three of the Coding and Robotics Competition for the Grade 8&9 respectively.

Koffiefontein Combined School claimed first position, followed by Sediba-Thuto on 2nd position and Sasolburg HTS on 3rd. The Department of Education in the Free State said the competition follows the implementation of the Coding and Robotics pilot project within the CAPS curriculum,

and preparing our learners for the Fourth and even Fifth Industrial Revolution.

Grade 8 & 9 learners from schools across the province participated in a thrilling Coding & Robotics Competition where they were required to apply the principles of design thinking to develop an artefact of an ideal eco- smart house for a family of four.

This Competition is designed to provide a practical, hands-on platform for learners to apply the foundational skills they are now developing, showcasing their creativity, problem-solving abilities, and innovative spirit and to prepare them for the National Competition that will take place in Gauteng on 2–4 December 2025.

Results:

1st PLACE: Koffiefontein Combined School

2nd PLACE: Sediba-Thuto Secondary School

3rd PLACE: HTS Sasolburg
