It was an Exciting, Innovative, and Memorable Moment for Flavius Mareka TVET College, as it launched its new Fourth Industrial (4IR) Centre of Excellence (Robotic and Cyber Security Lab) on the 29 October 2025 at the Sasolburg Engineering Campus.
The Centre was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of DHET, Dr. Nomusa Dube-Ncube, who cut the ribbon, and visited the 4IR lab for Robotics and Cyber Security, where learners demonstrated the robots and delivered the keynote speech.
This center is the outcome of a national project by the ETDP SETA, in partnership with the DHET, and two funders: the Sasol Foundation and FESTO, to establish 10 4IR centers across advantageously selected TVET colleges in the country. Flavius Mareka TVET College is honored to be among the inventors.
This Centre 4IR in Robotics and cybersecurity aims to bridge the gap between education and industry through collective learning and business exposure.
It is expected that the Centre will support the broad participation of youth in developing technology careers and communities around the college. To strengthen TVET colleges’ awareness of emerging technologies, the Centre will provide students with future-ready skills that are aligned with the demands of digital transformation and the smart industry, which will also develop lecturers’ capacity.
