Metsimaholo Executive Mayor, Cllr Jack Malindi is expected to respond to a Memorandum of demands raised by residents in ward1, Zamdela. On Friday the 12 September 2025, members of the community in the ward, gathered to hand over a memorandum of demands to the Executive Mayor.
The memorandum handover was at the entrance of ward 1, phase 5 along the R82 road.
Parts of their grievances include, Poor Service Delivery, Inaccessible Roads, Water crisis particularly at ward 1 (Phase 3), where there is water shedding without explanation. Allocation of a conducive area to the informal settlement residents. Sewer leakage and the problems relating to the Sewer/Toilet project. Failure to pay employees salary for 2 months and continuous stoppage of the project.
Speaking on behalf of the community Mr Cornelius Hlahane said the Municipal Manager must terminate the services of the current contractor of the sewer project, Stop unlawful hiring at the Wifi project and R82 Road Project, tampering of the Electricity Meter Box and calling for the return of old boxes.
“Mayor Malindi has asked to be given a 7 days period to consult the relevant stakeholders in the municipality in all matters” concludes Hlahane.
