What did you do when you were 7 Years old?
Well, DJ SOSO DE DJ has already kick started his career as a professional DJ at the age of 7 years old. This goes way back when he watched his father play with Virtual DJ at the age of 3 years. His father saw that his kid has an interest in what he’s doing so he started teaching him how to play. Dj soso de small has been training with his father for 4 yearsuntil he was ready to play for a crowd. Fortunately for him he got to start playing for at the Dinaledi Kids Festival which was for kids his age. On his first day playing for a crowd, he shared a stage with DJ ARCH JUNIOR. That’s when his mother knew that his child might be talented in this field.
Hlompho Base, who was born and raised in Sasolburg, Phase 2 is currently doing grade 2 at Lehutso Primary School. Her mother said – “I want to support my child in whatever he wants to do while I also have a wish that he gets an engineering degree as well”. It’s difficult to find black parents who support their kids in nurturing their talent/skill which is not aligned with education. DJ Soso de small was really looking forward to meet his mate Dj Arch Junior, that dream came in a blink of an eye, it must be her mother’s prayers since she’s a praying woman. It’s not everyday where you find both parents understanding their kids talent. Regardless of the noise hlompho makes in the morning which irritates his mother, his mother is still behind him in everything he does.
DJ SOSO DE DJ Would like to make it a point that he’s now ready to play in all kinds of events and is more than willing to receive bookings. This goes out to all mothers out there to let their kids explore their talents without any fear of being judged. Due to school DJ soso de DJ is only available on weekends only, his parents particularly his mother said she wants to make sure that he balances school with music very well. Grace Fm presenter, Dj Chansa who was interviewing Dj soso de dj said he’ll make him a resident dj after he played live on air and the whole studio went crazy. The program manager agreed and so, Ladies and Gentlemen catch Dj soso de dj playing live every Friday at 15:00 on Grace Radio, which is available online for streaming.
At the moment Dj soso de dj is in negotiations with local municipal and other potential sponsors for local talent development. As an upcoming artist it’s so hard to make a name for yourself individually even though it’s possible. Dj Soso de dj is currently signed by SKYYHIGH BRANDS, which is only providing him with management. The company is owned by a previous radio presenter at Karabo FM, Blaq Junior. Dj Soso de dj says his dream is get his own laptop and CDJ so he can train anytime he wants to do so.
Dj soso de dj also wants to be playing along Dj kabza de small as he portrays him as his idol. This year 2020, is the year he thinks will be his biggest as he has few people who are willing to help him. His parents can never be proud than this, her mother says it’s like a dream hearing his son on radio and playing live. She hopes to see him on TV one day which she also believes it can happen anytime soon.
Hlompho’s father is always there at all the times coaching him, even when he goes on radio and all these interviews. He believes his son took after him as he is someone who really liked music and playing but due to work and age he didn’t pursue his talent.
