Special Visit to the Little Saints Crechè in Viljoenskroon

In honor of the legacy of the first democratically elected president of South Africa, the late Tata Nelson Mandela, MEC for the Department of Education in the Free State Dr Mamiki Maboya, paid a special visit to the Little Saints Crechè in Viljoenskroon showering them with gifts and love.

Accompanied by the Executive Mayor of Moqhaka Local Municipality Cllr Tau Ramasimong, MEC Maboya said as part of the national Bana Pele Mass Registration Drive, the investment in this centre was not a coincidence but a targeted contribution to the cause of increasing access to quality learning programmes in the community of Rammulotsi and the province at large.

“There are more than 270 000 children aged 0-4 years in the Free State and only just above 97 000 of them, currently have access to early learning. A worrying statistic that moves us as a Department to do more. Since the migration of ECDs from the Department of Social Development to Education; the drive focuses on registering, equipping, resourcing and training centre managers and practitioners so that they can comply and receive funding from the department” MEC indicated.

MEC Maboya with the Acting DDG Mr Montso, Directors for Early Childhood Care and Education and Primary School Support Mrs Amelia Mofokeng and Mrs Lindiwe Sedibe; donated Mattresses, Fleece blankets, Potties,Kiddies Tables, Kiddies Chairs, Foam interlocking tiles, Exterior enamel paint, Painting brushes, an Office door, Window panes, Seedlings, Educational toys, Story books and Practitioner Files.
