At the time when the youth is grappling with issues of teenage pregnancies, substance abuse, crime and gender-based violence, entrepreneurship is being regarded as an alternative solution to these social ills.
It is for this reason that the Agape Foundation for Community Development and various stakeholders hosted a school safety awareness campaign and entrepreneurship day for the school learners in Qwaqwa last week.
Learners were empowered with information on business initiatives and other survival skills that will help them to face life challenges and mostly importantly to escape falling victims of a myriad of social ills.
According to Pastor Daniel Moloi a movie on business initiatives was shown to the learners.
“Learners enjoyed watching the movie on business initiatives and participation in innovative solutions to problems of community.
“This programme is aimed at instilling entrepreneurship mindset in our children at very early age. They need to come up with innovative projects in order to compete and win prices for themselves and their schools,” said Moloi.
Ben Pilusa from SEDA said; “We as SEDA have partnered with Prime Stars as well as Agape Foundation to encourage learners to participate in entrepreneurship at an early age and bring job creation and solution to societal problems.”
