Stepping into the ring at the Batho Community Hall in Bloemfontein on the 5th September 2026, the young female boxer Lerato Malefane from Meloding Virginia had only one thing in her mind, Victory.
Also know as the ‘Rose of Meloding’ Malefane, was up against Winnie Sithole from Klerksdorp, in a Flyweight, four round fight. The ‘Rose of Meloding’ won the fight with an Unanimous decision.
Malefane said she is grateful to God, coach, manager and everyone who supported her throughout the preparation for this fight . “I was well prepared for the fight and I gave everything I had in the ring even though on the fight day I was not feeling well, I’m proud to say that I came out victorious” said jubilant Malefane.
To Malefane this win is another step towards her goals.
“I know there is still a lot of work to do, and I’m ready to keep learning, improving, and pushing myself to become a better athlete. I don’t know when my next fight will be yet, but I’m preparing for the unknown date. I’ll keep putting in the work, staying focused, and keeping myself ready until that date is confirmed. I believe preparation should never stop, because when the opportunity comes, I want to be ready” said Malefane.
