Monitoring Weekend Classes in Reitz MEC Maboya Issues a Call to Rally Behind the Matric Class of 2026

With a mere 11 days before the trial examinations commencing on the 25th of August 2026; MEC Maboya is calling on all learners, educators, schools and parents to rally behind the Class of 2026.

Monitoring the Weekend Classes in Petsana, Reitz today and after the release of the 2nd Term Results, the MEC is imploring us to implement what she has coined the MOTHO-MOTHONG Strategy; where we must support one another fully, sharing ideas and imparting knowledge towards achieving the 95/ 55 provincial target. Learner to learner, learner to teacher, teacher to subject advisor. The entire education value chain must hold hands and bring their all.

Schools all over the province are engaging the Last Push as we prepare for the final examinations- the final test of our determination to beat our 2024 record pass in the country of 91% Matric Pass Rate. The MEC has been emphasizing that it’s not just the pass rate but quality matters, to secure the future of our learners.

Addressing the learners of Kgotso-Uxolo and Leifo-Iziko Secondary Schools, the MEC said “We have run out of time. Now is the time to put your books before everything else. Suffer now to benefit later. Make yourself available and commit to the cause. You have my support as your MEC and the support of the entire Free State Government”.
