Sasolburg Throws Coach Tshepang Makhethe continues to make a significant impact on South African athletics, developing young throwers and inspiring the next generation.
Makhethe the Head Coach of Makhethe Thrower Academy in Sasolburg, is being celebrated this week by the Free State Academy of Sports. The Coach possesses an Athletics South Africa Level 2 Throws Coach with an impressive track record both as an athlete and coach.
Some of Makhathe’s Achievements as a Coach are:
• Athletes SA records at U16, U20 and Senior level.
• SA Schools Championships 2025: 5 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze.
• SA Schools Championships 2026: 2 Gold, 4 Silver, 1 Bronze.
• ASA Age Group Championships 2025 & 2026: 9 medals combined.
As an Athlete:
• 3-time South African Senior Champion.
• 3-time African Senior Championships Medalist.
• 2-time Commonwealth Games Finalist.
• 2-time FISU World Student Games Finalist.
• African Junior Championships Silver Medalist.
