The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State honoured dedicated women in uniform today, during a special Women-Only Medal Parade held at the Tumahole Stadium in the Fazile Dabi District.

During the ceremony Brigadier BH Teleki, the Provincial Head of Finance in the Free State, received a 30-year medal, 67 members received 20-year medals, and 46 members received 10-year medals in recognition of their long and loyal service to the organisation and the people of South Africa.

The Deputy Minister of Police, Dr Polly Boshielo, delivered the keynote address and expressed her pride in the achievements of the recipients.

“This is an occasion I could not miss. Recognition, especially for long service, is an achievement worth celebrating. The handing over of each medal was very special to me because it represents years of sacrifice and dedication. These medals are a symbol of hope that we still have loyal and committed members within the service,” said Dr Boshielo.

The parade formed part of Women’s Month celebrations, honouring the sacrifices, dedication, and leadership of women serving in the South African Police Service.
