The recently launched political organization in Metsimaholo, Kingdom Ambassadors Movement is urging the public to report to the police social media groups that are used as a platform for cyberbullying, harassment and character defamation within the community.
The party says a certain social media group has come to its attention and it has also identified it as the most notorious one.
“These groups promote toxic behavior by encouraging public shaming and ridiculing of individuals, especially school learners, often leading to emotional distress. Cyberbullying is a serious offense and it can have devastating consequences, including mental health challenges and suicide” said the organization
The organization said it is calling all concerned members of the Metsimaholo community to take action and report such groups immediately to the South African Police Service (SAPS).
“We warn all individuals who are members of such groups to leave them immediately, as they may also be held legally accountable for participating in cyberbullying. We also demand that these groups be shut down immediately. To parents, guardians, teachers and community leaders we urge them to speak to young people about the dangers and consequences of engaging in online bullying”.
“If you or someone you know is being bullied online, please report it and seek help. There are support structures available including our platform. You are more than welcome to contact us via WhatsApp at 064 678 1917” added the organization in its statement.
