Young people encouraged to break the Silence

As the National Woman’s Day was celebrated across the country with this year’s theme ‘Gender Equality: Realising Woman Rights for an equal future’, young people especially young men were encouraged to break the silence. This was the message being carried out to young people in Refengkgotso, Deneysville and Metsimaholo, Oranjeville in events organised by author and life skills coach Nthatisi Mofokeng with assistance from Metsimaholo Municipality Youth Development Unit, as part of celebrating Woman’s day.

The event included various guests and motivational speakers. Young people were encouraged to break the silence and speak to someone about issues affecting them. “We encouraged young people more especially young men to speak to someone about issues affecting them because these young men grow up with this issues bottled up within them and if not addressed this issues later affects in their adulthood” said Mofokeng. Young people were also encouraged to be patient and have perseverance to achieve their goals. The event in Refengkgotso was held on the 8th August 2020.

“I have been through many challenges growing up and having lost my parents, I have been abuse and found myself in the streets at some point and what changed my life was talking to someone one day, and everything changed. That’s why I am encouraging young people this Women’s month to break the silence and speak to someone” added Mofokeng.

On Friday the 14th the same will be delivered to the youth in Zamdela at the Multi-purpose Centre in Harry Gwala. Mofokeng has written a book in Sesotho titled ‘Mamello e tswala Katleho’ and is appealing for assistance to print and distribute her book.
