Sasolburg: An investigation has been instituted by Sasolburg SAPS after a jewellery store was robbed of an undisclosed number of cellphones on Wednesday, 27 April 2022.
It was reported that a man walked into a Jwellery store situated at John Voster Square, Sasolburg at about 11:00 where a 26 year old complainant and her colleague were on duty.
According to the Police, the complainant alleged that this man asked to be assisted to buy a cellphone. She further stated that while being assisted he asked to just go get more personal information in his car outside. On his return, he was with another unknown male. When asked whether they are together or not his answer was no.
“The complainant continued to assist the suspect with his cellphone application. It is further alleged by the complainant that in the presence of her colleague one of the suspects took out a firearm, pointed and ordered them to quietly go to the back of the shop where the keys are kept,” said Police Spokesperson Captain Malebo Khosana.
Khosana added that the suspects demanded the private cellphones of complainant and her colleague. The complainant gave hers but the colleague resisted and one of the suspects hit her over the head with a firearm and took her cellphone.
Then they went to the front of the shop where complainant unlocked the cellphones cupboard. The two suspects took all the cellphones and they left the shop and drove off in a white Toyota Yaris. However the registration number on the vehicle was later revealed to be false.
“The complainant’s colleague was injured on the head and taken to hospital for medical treatment . The value of robbed cellphones is not yet known. The suspects are still at large,” said Khosana.
