The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Heilbron, is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating an unidentified male suspect who escaped from lawful custody in the early hours of Friday, 10 April 2026.
The suspect, believed to be a Mozambican national, had been arrested in connection with a burglary at a local farm and was being transported to the Heilbron Police Station. Upon arrival at approximately 03:00, the suspect managed to escape from police custody and fled on foot into nearby bushes. Police immediately launched a search operation.
The SAPS is urging anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect, or who may have seen any suspicious persons in the area, to come forward. Community members are also advised not to approach the suspect, as he may be dangerous.
A photograph of the suspect is available, and police are actively following up on all leads.
