Service disruption at Sasolburg Vehicle Registration Offices not welcomed

The Democratic Alliance spokesperson on Public Works & Infrastructure in the Free State, Jafta Mokoena said his party has noted the recent electricity disconnection at the vehicle registration office in Sasolburg, which interrupted services to residents.

“The disconnection follows outstanding payments reportedly owed by the Free State Department of Public Works and Infrastructure to Metsimaholo Local Municipality. While municipalities are required to enforce their credit control policies, it is equally important that government departments meet their financial obligations to ensure continuity of public services” said Mokoena.

Mokoena said the DA demands that the relevant authorities provide clarity on the circumstances leading to this situation and take swift steps to restore normal operations. Ensuring accountability and preventing similar occurrences in future must remain a priority.
