Koppies SAPS, together with other district stations, the Community Policing Forum (CPF), and the Youth Desk, conducted a Vehicle Check Point and awareness campaign along the Koppies–Kwakwatsi Road.
The purpose of the operation was to stop and engage motorists and pedestrians and to raise awareness on gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) within the community.
During the operation, members engaged motorists on compliance with road traffic regulations, including the importance of valid driving documentation, vehicle roadworthiness, and responsible driving.
Pedestrians were also sensitised on personal safety, reporting mechanisms, and available SAPS support services in cases of GBVF and other crimes. Pamphlets containing information on road safety and GBVF prevention were distributed to members of the public. A total of 62 motorists and pedestrians were reached during the campaign.
