Kidnapped Phuthaditjhaba teenage girls found outside tavern in Sasolburg

The three teenage girls that were reported missing in Phuthaditjhaba were found in Sasolburg. The three who are scholars at Mafube Intermediate School were last seen on the 20 November 2020, and their school uniform was found in the dustbin outside one of the girl’s family house.

Two of the three girls, were found on Wednesday the 02 December 2020 outside a tavern in Sasolburg and reunited with their families.
Phuthaditjhaba Family violence, Child protection and Sexual offences unit, launched a search for the three girls and with the assistance of the girls families, they were traced to a tavern in Sasolburg.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the girls were lured from their homes and used for prostitution by unknown foreign males. Further investigations led officers to the same area in Zamdela where the third girl (16) was found and arrested after it emerged that she allegedly solicited the kidnapping of the other two girls.

She will appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court on Monday 07 December 2020 on the charge of human trafficking.
