Free State’s Christmas bundles of joy

The Free State welcomed its Christmas Bundles of joy, across the province yesterday. By 08:00 on Christmas Day 2025, 18 newborns (9 boys and 9 girls) had arrived across the province. By 14:00, the tally reached 32 little blessings with 14 girls and 18 boys. Bongani Regional Hospital in Welkom has had a busy day by then with 7 births.

First Arrivals:

• Reitumetse Tsotetsi (18) of Phudaditjhaba welcomed a baby girl at 00:02 at Elizabeth Ross District Hospital, Qwaqwa (2.64 kg).

• Mokhehle Machabala (27) of Verkeerdevlei welcomed a baby boy at 00:23 at Bongani Regional Hospital, Welkom (2.90 kg).

• Ramathatele Mapaseka (30) of Bloemfontein welcomed a baby girl at 00:25 at National District Hospital, Bloemfontein (3.195 kg).

In Fezi Ngubentombi Hospital, Sasolburg MECs Mamiki Maboya and Toto Makume including some of Metsimaholo Local Municipality Councilors welcomed three baby girls and one boy who were born on Christmas day.

Premier of the Free State Ms. MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae visited maternity wards at National District Hospital and Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital in Bloemfontein today whilst MEC for Health, Mr Monyatso Mahlatsi visited Senorita Ntlabathi District Hospital (Ladybrand) and Phuthuloha District Hospital (Ficksburg) and were accompanied by Setsoto Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Seipati Mbiwe at Phuthuloha Public Hospital’s maternity ward in Ficksburg.
