Final goodbye to Sasolburg’s social media sensation

As Mohammed Mokoena was laid to rest on Saturday in Zamdela Sasolburg, his close friend and brother is still trying to come to terms with this painful loss. Des Ramaru said he knew his friend was very sick, but he didn’t expect him to depart so early in his life.

Ramaru said Mokoena remains an inspiration to many, he was a true definition of “Disability is not inability” he gave hope and confidence to many people living with disability.

“The 2nd of February will be remembered as the day we lost a legendary boy. For only two years on social media, Mokoena made so many people laugh, he touched so many lives from all corners of the world and his memories deserve to be honoured and celebrated” said Ramaru paying tribute to his brother.

Mokoena passed away on the 2nd February 2026, after being admitted to hospital complaining about heavy chest pains. Mokoena was a learner at Nkgopoleng Secondary School. He was born July 25th, 2008.
