Chuta said Never shall it be again that this district not be found in the Top 3″.

“Fezile Dabi has for many years stood as a beacon of success in the province. Today, as a statement for the province as a whole, we say: A single chapter does not re-write our entire story. Every disciplined and accomplished person needs a moment to pause and remember who they are. We are a province with a clear identity of excellence and standards” said Chuta.

“I have been leading this district of hardworking people for 14 years. Our district has been in the Top 10 and has been in the Top 3 in the country for a number of years, at the helm of NSC performance. And for the first time we are nowhere to be found in those ranks. Once bitten, twice shy” added Chuta.

A total of 6045 learners sat down for the 2025 NSC Examinations with 5407 passed, giving them an 89.4% overall pass and 41.6 Bachelors. Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Sciences, Geography and Accounting registered declines while all technical subjects in the district continue to shine and are growing in participation.

Despite the decline, the district has increased support to progressed learners and will be focusing on teacher development in all subjects .

Cedar Secondary School in Sasolburg was announced as the top performing school with a 100% pass rate and 94.4% bachelor pass, a very good story to tell after all.

The department thanked sponsors that supported the district, to ensure learners are set to face the world as their further their studies, and the Metsimaholo, Ngwathe and Mafube Local Municipalities. It has also congratulated all the principals, teachers and learners of the Fezile Dabi District.
