The Kroonstad Regional Court has convicted and sentenced a 40-year-old man to a R12 000 fine or 12 months’ imprisonment for Assault Common and Crimen Injuria against his 12-year-old daughter.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 29 November 2025, at approximately 09:30, the victim was on her way to a local shop when she met her father. The suspect verbally insulted the victim and proceeded to assault her with open hands. She managed to flee the scene and reported the matter to the police.
The Edenville Police acted swiftly, traced the suspect, and arrested him shortly after the incident was reported. Detective Sergeant Masondo, attached to the Tumahole Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit, was allocated to investigate the case.

The accused appeared before the Kroonstad Regional Court on 24 March 2026, where he was sentenced to a fine of R12000 or 12 months imprisonment wholly suspended for five years.
