A newly registered Refengkgotso Residents Civil Society Organization, has entered the political arena in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality and is set to contest the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections.
Formed in 2025, The Civil Society Organization said its formation was out of frustration from political leaders whom community accuse of power abuse, as well as ongoing service delivery challenges in their area, and a call from the community of Refengkgotso to have an organization that will represent its interests.
Expressing the organization’s clear intention its Secretary Ranky khanya, said the organization has complied and registered with the Electoral Commission of South Africa and is ready to contest all 23 wards in the Metsimaholo Local Municipality as part of the broader Fezile Dabi District Municipality.
“We have been standing with the community of Refengkgotso and Deneysville for a long time and we fought alongside each other against many challenges facing our area on issues such as favouritism and nepotism when it comes to employment opportunities, and fought alongside residents in fighting crime and water challenges said Khanya
The organization’s 11 points manifesto programme include amongst other reliable 24 hour supply of water and electricity, rehabilitation of roads, storm-water and sanitation systems, accelerate housing delivery, Zero tolerance on corruption in the governance of municipalities.
The organization will also work to establish a Metsimaholo Skills Centre aligned to Fezile Dabi District Skills Plan, Focusing on trades, energy, agriculture, 4IR and its governance values are Service Delivery, Transparency, Accountability, Jobs, Safety, Dignity
