The African Farmers Association of South Africa (AFASA) in the Free State Province will visit communal farmers in the Fezile Dabi District following reports that more than 500 animals were lost due to severe cold weather conditions.
The three-day programme will be supported by the animal-health technicians from the Department of Agriculture, Red Meat Industry Services (RMIS), and the Office of the Speaker of Metsimaholo Local Municipality.

Areas to be Covered: Heilbron and Deneysville
AFASA has indicated that visits to other affected towns in the Fezile Dabi District will follow soon. The purpose of the visit according to AFASA is to provide valuable information on animal health and livestock management, Provide fodder, medication and other available support to affected farmers; and to Document livestock losses for disaster-relief intervention by the provincial and national governments.
The Farmers Association is appealing to Farmers in other towns across the Fezile Dabi District who have lost livestock or whose animals remain at risk to report their cases to:
