The Fezile Dabi District conducted a multidisciplinary Safer Easter Holidays operation aimed at ensuring road safety and combating crime during the Easter period.
The roadblock was conducted on the N1 next to the Vaal Plaza. The operation brought together various stakeholders, including the Executive Mayor of Ngwathe, Cllr Victoria de Beer-Mthombeni, the MMC for Public Safety, SAPS (VCIU,Corporate Communications), Ngwathe Fire, Home Affairs, Provincial Traffic, Ngwathe Traffic, Eskom, Civilian Oversight, RIMS, and SANRAL, all working collaboratively to maximise visibility.
During the roadblock, vehicles and drivers were stopped and checked for compliance with road traffic laws. This included the verification of driver’s licenses, vehicle roadworthiness, and inspections for any illegal activities. Various safety awareness pamphlets were also distributed to motorists to promote responsible driving behaviour during the Easter holidays.
