Police Commemoration Service took place in Parkweg Police Station, Bloemfontein on Sunday 21st December 2025. This was in honor of all men and women in blue who lost their lives in the line of duty. Those who were killed while protecting the inhabitants of the Republic and their property. The unveiling was under the theme: “Gone but not forgotten”.
The Free State Province Premier Ms MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae and Deputy Minister of Police Mr Cassel Mathale were hosted by the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane with her deputies and Free State province SAPS management. Men and women in blue who are colleagues of the departed, were also in attendance.

Families and friends of the fallen heroes joined the service to observe the solemn unveiling. The MEC for Community Safety Roads and Transport Mr Jabu Mbalula was also among the dignatories.
Deputy Minister of Police, Mr Cassel Mathale (MP), welcomed everyone present, and said that this is one of the commemoration that they should have, remembering all the fallen heroes and heroines. He welcomed those who came to support families of the fallen heroes and extended warm welcome and gratitude to Premier Letsoha-Mathae. He indicated that her presence today is symbolic of our fight against the killing of our police.
Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane thanked everyone who came, especially the dignatories and stakeholders who made the unveiling possible. “This wall must remind us that these fallen heroes lived and did not go in vain. Continue to fight crime and make South Africa safe,” concluded the Provincial Commissioner.
