The stage has been set for men in the Free State and Northern Cape to gather together in unison and lift up their spirits in songs, prayers, sermons and conversations. Two men’s conferences are already lined up in the Southern and Eastern Free State regions for this purpose.

The two conferences have been organised by the Men’s Fellowship of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (the AFM ) church and are set to empower men in toto.

The first men’s conference is scheduled for this coming weekend from Friday until Sunday (1 – 3 September 2023) at the AFM Batho church in Bloemfontein in the Southern Free State region.

The second conference will take place on the 7th October 2023 at the AFM Living Hope in Bohlokong, Bethlehem in the Eastern Free State region.

The Regional Co-ordinator of Men’s Fellowship in the Southern Free State Region, Modise Mofokeng, said the objective of the conference in Bloemfontein is to officially launch the men structure in his region. “The time has come for men in their diversity to launch a huge men’s regional structure. The objective is to mobilise men for a common course in building the body of Christ. As well as men’s health and capacity building. From this conference men will never be the same,” said Mofokeng.

The theme of this conference is “Be who God meant you to be”. The AFM’s Southern Free State Regional Chairperson, Pastor Deon Bosch, is among the speakers lined up for this conference.

Mofokeng said this upcoming conference will allow commissions for man-to-man talks on issues of finances, health, economic empowerment, societal role of man and a few others that are a major concern to the menfolk, including their sons.

“So, Southern Free State Region of Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa is inviting all men and young men to assemble at the said venue. Men be who God meant you to be,” said Mofokeng emphatically.

As for conference in the Eastern Free State region, speakers include Parliamentarian and the leader of the African Christian Democratic Party, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe and the Regional Chaiperson, Pastor Bongani Mashobane.

The Chairperson of Men’s Fellowship in the Eastern Free State region, Collen Charlie, said the objective of the conference is to broaden men’s horizon on various subject and skills, such as starting and running a business.

“We are not only spiritual men, but we are also men who need to look after their own families and put bread on the tables through various means such as stable jobs and self-employment endeavours. After praying and worshipping God, we need to feed our families. So, we want to be responsible and accountable as men.”

Charlie said they have also invited those men in his region who are in business to exhibit their products at the conference so that they can get exposure and network with other men.

“If you empower men, you empower a church. Empowered men, empowered churches. If men are successful, our churches also will be successful. We believe through this conference, we will be able to mentor strong and capable men,” concluded Charlie.
