Democratic Alliance member from the Free State and also the party’s National Spokesperson, Karabo Khakhau, claims she has been forced to withdraw from one of the party’s national leadership positions she was contesting for the upcoming DA Federal Congress expected to take place next month.
Khakhau was contesting the position of 1st Deputy Federal Chairperson. Also amongst those contesting the same position from the Free State, is Dr Annelie Lotriet, who is currently the deputy chairperson of the Federal Council of the party and also the Deputy Speaker in the National Assembly.
At the centre of her withdrawal is a letter of good standing, of which the party’s Provincial Executive Committee refused to grant, a decision sustained by the party FedEx, that automatically disqualified her. Khakhau is also the Head of Constituency for Moqhaka and Matjhabeng Municipalities in the province.
