Pride, comfort and a sense of home have been restored at Letsoho le None Centre for the Elderly in Zamdela, Sasolburg. This has been through a social collaboration between Lusa Community Chest and Safripol.
It has been on the agenda of the two organisations, to make a meaningful impact to the centre after realizing challenges at the centre such as food shortages, safety concerns, the urgent need for a working stove for daily meals, and the sustainability of their sewing projects, amongst others, as part of celebrating Mandela Month.

Within three weeks, the centre had been retiled and freshly painted. The kitchen was completely rebuilt to provide a functional and welcoming area for daily meals. A new palisade fence was installed to improve the centre’s security. Alongside these major changes, thoughtful touches were added throughout to restore pride, comfort, and a sense of home.
Throughout July, Safripol employees collected food, sewing accessories, and hygiene products for the centre. In addition, Safripol made a generous R20 000 cash donation for new sewing machines, ensuring the continuation of the sewing projects that help fund the centre’s operations and empower its members.
Words of gratitude and thanks were also attributed to other partners that played a role in making sure that transformation at the centre became possible.
