Lusa Community Chest recently facilitated a dynamic Transformational Leadership Programme under the banner of the Transformer Programme. Centre Managers from various parts of the Free State province, including areas such as Heilbron, Petrus Steyn, Zamdela, Kroonstad and other surrounding areas gathered at the NG Noord Community Centre for this impactful session.
Mapule Kobokoane played an important role in facilitating this session, which focused on personal growth, team empowerment, and leadership development—redefining how Centre Managers lead within their communities.
The training addressed key themes essential to effective leadership:
• Personal identity and values
• Communication and temperament styles
• Conflict resolution and servant leadership
• Crafting aligned team Mission and Vision Statements
Centre Managers reflected deeply on their roles—not just as administrators, but as role models and changemakers. The emphasis was on leading with clarity, compassion, and purpose. Through interactive group work and open dialogue, participants engaged meaningfully with one another.

They shared challenges, exchanged ideas, and co-created solutions in a space that encouraged trust and mutual respect. The experience strengthened team cohesion and laid the foundation for collaborative leadership moving forward.
Centre Managers described the training as “restorative to the soul, mind, and spirit.” They highlighted practical tools and examples, which they felt would bring real change both at work and at home. Many requested that similar sessions be extended to lecturers and learners, and called for this type of leadership development to be offered regularly. Conflict resolution strategies were already being applied in their centres with positive results.
As one delegate shared, “We didn’t just learn—we transformed. We now lead with renewed purpose and a shared vision.”
