Police recover stolen building material belonging to a school

An intelligence-driven operation led to the arrest of a 47-year-old male for possession of suspected stolen property.

On Friday, 20 March 2026, at approximately 00:20, members from Sasolburg Highway Relief A, Zamdela CPU Team 2, and Viljoensdrift CSC Relief C acted on information regarding stolen building materials belonging to a School in Amelia section, Zamdela.

The information led members to a residence in Amelia, where a search was conducted. During the operation, 42 corrugated iron sheets and 29 ceiling boards were recovered. The items are believed to have been stolen from the school.

A suspect, identified as the homeowner, was arrested at the scene. The suspect is expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s court soon on charges related to possession of suspected stolen property.
