The Fezile Dabi District Employee Health and Wellness Component hosted a Pre-Easter Service at NG Kerk Mafube on 26 March 2026. The District Commissioner, Major General Makubo, attended the service along with members from various stations within the district.
The service was conducted in partnership with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), representatives from various churches, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS), Sisterhood, and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).
The program was directed by Captain (Rev) Femele, and the Station Commander of Mafube, Lt Colonel Letsaba, officially welcomed all attendees. In his address, Major General Makubo outlined the purpose of the gathering, stating that it served to unite members and the community in seeking God’s strength, guidance, and protection during the Easter period.

He emphasized that this period calls for reflection and repentance and encouraged members to seek forgiveness through prayer. Major General Makubo also acknowledged that while many community members would be traveling during the Easter period, members of the South African Police Service would remain on duty to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
The District Commissioner highlighted the importance of prayer during the Pre-Easter period, not only for personal spiritual upliftment but also in support of the ongoing fight against crime and for the well-being of communities within the district. Members were encouraged to remain united in faith and purpose.
Sergeant Mhlambi delivered a sermon on Via Dolorosa (Jesus’ journey to the cross), and various preachers and members took turns reflecting on the seven words of Jesus on the cross:
The pastors and the community joined in an intercessory prayer against crime within Mafube and the broader district, for members of the South African Police Service and their families, and for stability and peace within the Republic of South Africa.
