Police investigating cause of Deneysville siblings’ killer fire

Investigations are under way to determine the cause of shack fire that claimed the lives of three siblings in Refengkgotso Deneysville in the early hours of Tuesday this week.

The police in Deneysville have registered an inquest for the tragic death of the trio in the blaze. 

Police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani said on Tuesday, 2023-07-25 at about 02:30 police received a call from neighbours about a burning shack at the back of a house in Refengkgotso section, Deneysville.

On arrival at the scene, police found neighbours busy trying to extinguish the fire while emergency personnel were on their way.  After the fire was successfully extinguished, police investigations discovered the three charred bodies of the siblings aged 8-year-old male, 13-year-old male and 17-year-old female.

“An inquest was opened and investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire. Further investigation revealed that their mother was allegedly at work at the time of the blaze,” said Rani.
