Ngwathe Local Municipality Municipal Manager, Dr Futhuli Mothamaha, has welcomed an announcement of the groundbreaking partnership between this municipality and Sasol, this week.The partnership according to Dr Futhuli Mothamaha, is aimed at revitalising townships by supporting local businesses.
“We are proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership between the Ngwathe Local Municipality and Sasol focused on the construction of micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) hubs in our respective towns. These hubs are particularly aimed at revitalising our townships by supporting our local businesses”, expressed the Municipal Manager of Ngwathe Dr Futhuli Mothamaha..
Further emphasis from Dr Sive Dintsi, the Director responsible for Spatial Planning and Economic Development, outlined that “This collaborative initiative represents a significant step towards fostering economic growth and improving the quality of life for our residents. These MSME hubs will serve as a central point for local businesses to thrive, offering essential resources, training, and support services that are crucial for their success.”
Ngwathe’s management team met with Sasol’s delegation, for an introductory session of the appointed service provider by Sasol. The main purpose of the meeting was to kickstart the initiation and construction of the new hubs. As part of the municipality’s integrated development plan (IDP), and Sasol’s social labour plan (SLP) commitments to the municipality, the objective of establishing these strategic hubs is to intentionally improve the township economies of Ngwathe by empowering our existing businesses while introducing new businesses to create more job opportunities. In addition, various economic development projects are ongoing while others are in the pipeline for all the towns of Ngwathe.
