The Economic Freedom Fighters’ regional leader in the Fezile Dabi region in the Free State has secured a position of a Member of Mayoral Committee in Metsimaholo Local Municipality in Sasolburg.
April Motaung has been appointed as the Member of Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Human Settlement.
Another Mayoral Committee post was handed to the EFF’s Selloane Motjeane, whose reign as the Executive Mayor of the same municipality in 2021 was shortlived after her party ordered her to resign. She is now the MMC for Organisational Development and Corporate Services.
The new Mayoral Committee was announced by the municipality’s recently elected Executive Mayor Jack Malindi, who was installed last week following a vote of no confidence in the former Executive Mayor, Jeff Zwane.
Another notable appointment in Malindi’s executive authority is the municipality’s former Executive Mayor, Lindiwe Tshongwe. She scored the position of MMC for Finance and Intergrated Development Planning.
The other positions in the Mayoral Committee have been allocated as follows:
Councillor Lefa Nhlapo – Solid Waste
Councillor Leetoane Tsotetsi – Parks, Sports, Arts and Culture
Councillor Mapule Mofokeng – Public Safety, Security, Traffic and Disaster
Councillor Lebohang Makhefu – Local Economic Development
Councillor Mosiuoa Poho – Infrastructure and Technical Services
Councillor Angie Mofokeng – Special Programmes
