What do you do when life doesn’t go according to plan? What do you do when you are searching for a job, rebuilding after a setback, or trying to find your footing again?
Many people withdraw because they feel they have nothing to offer. But the truth is, you still have something valuable — your skills, your experience, your knowledge, and your willingness to contribute.
While you are rebuilding your life, why not offer those skills somewhere? A community organisation, a small business, a local project, or someone who needs what you can do.
Because sometimes the next opportunity does not come while you are waiting. Sometimes it comes while you are contributing.
Life does not always go according to plan. Sometimes people find themselves rebuilding after losing a job, experiencing failure, facing disappointment, or going through a season of uncertainty.
But while you are rebuilding your life, do not allow your skills, talents, knowledge, and experience to sit unused.
While in the Egyptian jail, the young Joseph used his dream interpretation gift to interpret fellow inmates’ dreams. This led to one of the inmates recommending him to Pharaoh when he struggled to understand his dreams. Joseph was released from jail because of his skills that he put to use while he was awaiting his breakthrough. We read about this in Genesis 40 – 41.
In the meantime, Joseph offered his gift and skill in prison. It was because of what he did while in prison that he was brought before Pharaoh, who ultimately promoted him to a senior position in his government. Why can’t you do like Joseph in the meantime.
I encourage you to consider offering what you have to community organisations, churches, non-profit organisations, schools, small businesses, local projects, or anyone who can benefit from your abilities.
This is not about working for free forever. It is about staying active, growing, building relationships, gaining experience, restoring confidence, and creating opportunities while you find your next step.
Sometimes your next opportunity is connected to the value you bring today.
Do not underestimate what you carry. Your skills still matter. Your experience still matters. Your contribution still matters.
Your current situation is not the end of your story. Do not hide your gifts because life has challenged you. Use what you have, where you are, and take that next step. You never know who is watching, who you will meet, or what door may open because you chose to contribute
Keep moving. Keep learning. Keep serving. Take one step at a time as you rebuild your story and move beyond defeat.
