Healthcare services in Deneysville and surrounding communities have received a major boost with the official handover of the Refengkgotso Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Station, on Tuesday 21 July 2026.
The Executive Mayor of Metsimaholo Local Municipality, Cllr Jack Malindi welcomed the Free State Premier, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, the MEC for Health, Monyatso Mahlatsi, representatives from SASOL, councillors, community leaders, and residents to this historic occasion.
SASOL Senior Vice-President, Ntokozo Gxabashe, applauded the successful completion of the project, saying: “This building is not about bricks and mortar, but about our people. We remain committed to being a catalyst for positive change and improving service delivery. We value partnerships, and this facility is close to the people it is meant to serve.”
Free State MEC for Health, Monyatso Mahlatsi, expressed gratitude to SASOL for its continued investment in the province’s healthcare system.
Free State Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae commended SASOL for its longstanding partnership with the provincial government while celebrating the success of the young Black woman entrepreneur who delivered the project.
“We must celebrate Black excellence, especially the achievements of Black women and deliberately support Free State based enterprises. This is what becomes possible when the government and the private sector work together, we can achieve so much more.”
In his address, the Executive Mayor, Cllr Malindi described the handover as a defining moment for the municipality, reaffirming the commitment to improving the lives of residents through quality service delivery and stronger healthcare infrastructure.
The project directly benefited more than 340 households and was constructed by a young Black female entrepreneur, creating 35 employment opportunities during the construction phase, a true testament to Black excellence and women empowerment.
The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with five solar-powered boreholes, ensuring a reliable and sustainable water supply. To date, SASOL has invested approximately R70 million in Corporate Social Investment (CSI) projects across the Free State, including this life changing EMS station.
