Msimanga throws first punch against former fighter Motaung in a defamation case
The Economic Freedom Fighters Free State Provincial Secretary Malefane ‘Bosanku’ Msimanga was successfully granted an interim court interdict in a defamation case filed against former fighter April Motaung.

The case follows a letter of demand sent to Motaung, demanding he retract defamatory statements made against Msimanga in social media platforms posts.
Msimanga attorneys claimed in the letter of demand that those defamatory statements made by Motaung on his Facebook page account: “Criminal Syndicates are stealing Tax Payers Money Basi and Bosanku of Eff.” were untrue and seeks to tarnish the good name of their client.
The Free State High Court, Bloemfontein Division, granted the interim order on the 05th May 2026, ruling that the statements by Motaung are unlawful and defamatory, be removed and should apologise.
Motaung has however filed a Notice of Application for Leave to Appeal.
