Fostering the love for reading with a walk

The importance of building a literate nation was emphasised this week when teachers, officials, parents and learners took it to the streets with a literacy walk.

The Department of Education in the Free State took this significant step towards making a difference with 200 learners, officials, and parents joining hands and voices at Lehutso Primary School for the Fezile Dabi Literacy Walk.

Together, they walked 2km, sharing readings and inspiring messages that will stay with them forever.

“It’s not just about Literacy Month – it’s about building a future where every child can thrive through the power of stories” said the department.
