The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed the case of Foot and Mouth disease in Kroonstad in the Moqhaka Local Municipality.
The infected farm belongs to a commercial farmer, who is farming with livestock. Movement restrictions have been put in place on all farms within a 10km radius of the infected farm.
The infected farm has been placed under quarantine and all farms within 10 km radius have been notified and placed under precautionary quarantine until surveillance is completed.
The department has prioritized the vaccination of the infected farm.
