Tirelessly work by Zamdela Sergeant finally brought justice to the victim of rape

Hard and tireless work by Sergeant Agnes Mankge of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences has finally paid-off and brought justice to the victim of rape happened back in 2022, in Denneysville.

Tumelo Christian Khotha (30) was found guilty by Sasolburg magistrate and was sentenced 26 years of imprisonment, on 20 June 2025, for rape and assault GBH.

On 6 March 2022, at about 00:40, the 17-year-old victim at the time of the incident was from a play rehearsal, in Deneysville with her boyfriend. Two (2) males began chasing her boyfriend, and he ran away, leaving her behind.

One (1) of the suspects took the victim to his place by force. The victim further alleged that when they arrived at the suspect’s house, he raped her several times that night and also assaulted her with his fist. The suspect released her in the morning at about 07:00.

The victim managed to go to the police station with her parents and file a case of rape and assault, causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). The case was assigned to Sergeant Agnes Mankge of the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit in Zamdela.

She worked tirelessly and arrested the suspect. He attended the trial until he was sentenced, and justice was served for the now 20-year-old victim.
