Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital in Qwaqwa has been forced to cancel visiting hours to the hospital following a reported positive Covid-19 case at the institution this week.
The notification of the cancellation of visiting hours was firstly issued by the hospital on its Facebook page this week and later confirmed by the Free State Provincial Department of Health.
The Facebook Post informed the community that there has been changes to visiting hours to Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional Hospital from Friday, 5th June 2020, until further notice due to a reported positive Covid-19 case, which was reported the previous day, Thursday 4 June 2020.
“The Free State Department of Health would like to confirm as true the Facebook Public Notification of cancellation of visiting hours with immediate effect,” said Mondli Mvambi, the Free State Health Spokesperson.
According to Mvambi those who were in contact with the individual have been screened and sent for isolation. The local tracing team is also working tirelessly to trace further contacts whom the individual might have been in contact with.
“Management takes the safety and wellbeing of all staff, patients and visitors in the highest regards and will continuously consult with the relevant stakeholders to ensure that all who enter the hospital are safe as much as possible.
“Let’s be safe, practice hand hygience as well as social distancing,” he said
Mvambi allayed the fears of the public that hospital was not closed, and it will continue to admit those in need of essential health care services.
He said further details will be communicated with the public in due course.
