The Frankfort Regional Court has convicted and sentenced Fana Kelvin Mphuthi (31) to 12 years’ imprisonment for rape.
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, at around 22:30, the then 28-year-old victim was visiting Mphuthi, her boyfriend, and the couple went to bed together. Mphuthi started assaulting and accusing her of having an affair, which she denied. Under threat, she eventually agreed to the accusations to stop the assault, but Mphuthi proceeded to rape her.
The victim reported the incident to the police, and Mphuthi was arrested. Detective Sergeant Mamoferefere Maloka attached to the Mafube Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses Unit investigated the case and secured a conviction, resulting in a sentence of 12 years’ imprisonment by the Frankfort Regional Court on August 28, 2025.
