Series of criminal attacks on testing stations in towns such as Heilbron, Kroonstad, Viljoenskroon, Virginia, Lindley, Kestel, Phuthaditjhaba and Marquard has been strongly Condemned by the Department of Community Safety, Roads and Transport in the Free State.
These attacks at traffic testing stations have been noticed between August and September 2025.
The department said in these criminal attacks
security officers were tied up or attacked, Break-ins through doors, windows, and even roofs Alarm systems disabled, stealing of face value documents and Malicious damage to state property.
“These attacks disrupt essential services, meaning traffic testing stations are forced to close temporarily delaying, Vehicle licensing and testing Driving licensing and testing and Service delivery to our communities” said the department.
The department said while police investigations are ongoing they are calling on the public to report suspicious activities at these stations and support security officers.
