The Free State Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is informing the public of four new confirmed cases of Foot and Mouth Disease, in the province. This brings the confirmed number of cases to 30. There are six identified distinct disease outbreak areas across five municipalities;
Kroonstad (Moqhaka Municipality)-9 confirmed cases
Viljoenskroon (Moqhaka Municipality)-11 confirmed cases
Deneysville(Metsimaholo Municipality)-1 confirmed case
Cornelia/Frankfort (Mafube Municipality)-6 confirmed cases
Heilbron (Ngwathe Municipality)-2 confirmed cases
Odendaalsrus (Matjhabeng Municipality)-1 confirmed case
The department said it has prioritized vaccination in the affected farms. Movement restrictions have been implemented in all farms within a 10 km radius of the infected farms. Farmers and community members are urged to report any suspect case to the local State Veterinary Office: @ 066 025 2229
